Plumbing Studies and Gas Foundation Course

Through a mixture of practical assignments and 
classroom based projects you will learn the skills and knowledge to allow you to enter the plumbing industry. Our Level 2 course in Plumbing will give you the solid foundation in all the practical aspects of plumbing such as pipe bending, soldering, working with different materials, installation techniques, fault finding and 

maintenance, as well as the essential theoretical understanding you will require to become a professional plumber.


Whether you want to work as a professional plumber or progress to working with gas and boilers this course is the essential first step on the ladder and provides you with the definitive grounding you will need to enter the plumbing industry.

Various flexible training options are available as well as a home study option for the theory element. 

The Plumbing Studies Course is a mixture of practical workshops as well as the essential theoretic elements required to become a professional plumber and includes:

The Plumbing Studies Course is suitable for beginners wanting to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the plumbing/Gas industry. The course offers learners the chance to develop their plumbing skills to a recognised high standard by the industry.

Whether you are a new entrant to the gas industry or an existing engineer with your own Gas Safe registration MCB have a wide range of courses to help enhance your employability and move your business forward.
 

 

  • New Entrant leading to Gas ACS 


This course is ideal for new candidates seeking a career in the gas and utility industry and who do not have any experience. On this five week managed learning course you will be required to complete the full range of Gas assessments before gaining ACS Accreditation. You will gain your core plumbing skills as well learning to work with heaters, cookers, boilers, fires and combustion performance analysers. This course is guaranteed to get you fully skilled to enter the Gas Industry.

This course contains the following recognised Gas industry units:

CCN1- Core Domestic Gas Safety

CPA1 (Combustion Performance Analysis)

CENWAT – Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters

CKR1 – Cookers

HTR1 – Space Heaters (including Gas Fires and Wall Heaters)


 

All courses/units can be taken seperately or as a combined course dependent on your individual requirements and budget.

  • CCN1 including Appliances Re-Assessment

 

This four day course is for existing Gas Safe registered engineers wishing to undertake their five yearly re-assessment

 

The re-assessment Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) course, plus appliances, includes training and initial assessment in the following:

CCN1 – Core Domestic Gas Safety, including CPA1 (Combustion Performance Analysis)
CENWAT – Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters
CKR1 – Cookers
HTR1 – Space Heaters (including Gas Fires and Wall Heaters)

The cost of the CCN1 course (plus appliances) includes training and assessment is £715 (inc Assessments, Certification and VAT)

  • Gas Safe Training: Associated Trade


This course is intended for gas engineers who already hold nationally recognised gas trade associated qualifications. Qualified engineers are recommended for this course and should be able to demonstrate their skills working with particular materials. MCB Training provides this 3 week managed learning course and will give you training on the following modules:


CCN1- Core Domestic Gas Safety
CPA1 (Combustion Performance Analysis)
CENWAT – Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters
CKR1 – Cookers
HTR1 – Gas Fire & Wall Heater Safety
HTR1 – Space Heaters (including Gas Fires and Wall Heaters)

Candidates who wish to take this course must provide evidence of their qualifications and these include:

Plumbing craft qualification or National/Scottish Vocational Qualification (N/SVQ) (oil and/or solid fuel options) - suitable initially for domestic or commercial central, water heating or pipework installation, Pipefitter/Welder craft qualification or N/SVQ - suitable initially for commercial pipework, pipework commissioning and meter installation. Heating and Ventilation craft qualification or N/SVQ - suitable initially for commercial pipework and appliance installation. Refrigeration engineer/fitter craft qualification or N/SVQ - suitable initially for commercial appliance and pipework installation.

Written evidence from the employer of 'on-the-job' gas installation and/or maintenance gas work, carried out under direct supervision of competent operatives employed by a GAS SAFE registered business, must be provided

With entry into the gas industry previously being quite lengthy in time, quicker and more practical processes have now been introduced. This means candidates no longer have to spend years studying in college to be considered in the industry.
